and climate change podcast I am talking to Jeri Baker, Executive Director of One Spirit Non- Profit, a
collective of Oglala Lakota and volunteers from around the globe, working hand
in hand for the Pine Ridge Reservation community.
Jeri shares some of
problems and success stories of working with the Lakota people including the
start- up of the Buffalo House and how we can all learn and benefit from their
respect of nature and the environment.

“Our program goals are to support Lakota
initiatives, lending them a hand up. These initiatives include but are not
limited to ending hunger by implementing sustainable food sources, providing
firewood for home heat to elders in need. We offer employment opportunities
through our Charging Buffalo Facility and Wood for Home Heat programs. In
short, we help the Lakota help themselves. The Allen Youth and Community Center
provides food, learning opportunities, fun activities and a safe environment
for the children of Allen, the poorest community in the US.”
