Hey anne marie, I am very interested in investing in green energy companies. I recently completed my undergrad in environmental management which is basically half business and half environmental studies. I have a lot of faith in the industry and its future, more specifically in the next 10-20 years. Currently I am invested in two powershares etf's. Wilderhill clean energy (PBW) and their global clean energy portfolio (PBD).

I am not an experienced trader so some of these questions might seem stupid.

My concern is that these portfolios will not be adding new green energy companies as they enter the market. Is a portfolio a set composite of companies or can powershares change it with time to add and deduct poor and strong performing companies?

Also, when I look at the future of green energy, there will be as many successful companies as unsucessful, and seeing as these predictions will be almost impossible to predict, an etf will contain both. So is it better not to invest in an etf at all and instead invest in individual or even sector (wind, biofuel, fuelcell etc...) firms?

Let me know your thoughts. As I mentioned I have strong faith in green energy tech and when it comes to investing in these companies there is absolutely nothing wrong with saying I want to make as much money as possible! The more money in the environment the better I say.

Thanks for your comments. The ETFs you mentioned both track Wilderhill Indices so their portfolios will adjust depending on the criteria set forth in each index. Typically adjustments are made every quarter, however I would recommend visiting www.wildershares.com and reading more specifics on how they select the components of each index.

I hope that helps.
thanks
